Frequently Asked Questions About Us

Piper’s Playhouse in Anniston, Alabama have gathered the most frequently asked questions about us. If you have a question or concern that has not been asked yet, feel free to contact us.

What is doggy daycare?

It works much like a day care center for children. You can drop your dog off during the morning (or afternoon) and then pick them up later in the day. During your dog's stay at our day care, they will be able to socialize with people and other dogs.

What is the difference in a “nail trim” & a “nail grind”?

A nail trim is included with any grooming services but we HIGHLY recommend adding a nail grind. The difference is how short and rounded the nails will be. When we just trim the nails, the nails might still be long and rough at the tips. Using a Dremel to file the nails will result in short and smoother nails.

What are the benefits of doggy daycare?

There are MANY benefits! Dogs are social animals by nature and greatly benefit from being able to interact with people and other dogs. Throughout the day, your dog will get lots of mental and physical exercise. This service will also give you peace of mind because you know that your dog is playing in a safe and supervised environment while you are away.

Do you board too?

Yes, we do. We have found out that dogs attending our Doggy Day Care have decreased anxiety levels than those who are just crated. Our Doggy Day Care dogs are also crated at night, but that is already a great time for them to rest from their day of playing and socializing. We also board cats, birds, hedgehogs, chinchillas, hamsters, rabbits, gerbils, and sugar gliders.

How will my dogs know where to relieve themselves in an indoor facility? Will it cause an issue with their house training?

Our indoor facility has been renovated to handle dogs. We have an 80's French drain and sloped floors.  The new dogs follow the lead of the others and learn quickly where to potty. All messes are immediately mopped up or rinsed down the drain. The entire facility is disinfected thoroughly every night.  Before purchasing our new facility, we did extensive research and spoke to owners of similar facilities all over the country. None of their customers had issues with dogs pottying indoors after staying with them and neither have we.

Are there separate areas for little dogs to play in?

Yes! We have four separate areas for dogs of different sizes and temperaments to play in. Little dogs usually stay upfront with us behind the counter.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated?

Yes. Your dog(s) needs to have updated vaccinations for Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and on flea prevention medication.

Will my dog need to go through any screening?

Yes. Your dog will have a Personality Evaluation to assess their temperament before playing with the other dogs. We will look for aggressiveness, shyness, etc. The dogs must be able to play nicely but we need to see that they are in good health first.
